Patch

It’s PATCH, Issue One, of my zine-review ‘zine! When I started reading comics after sight loss, I noticed many characters with an eye patch or variations on one eye and low vision. I felt positive recognition, “Hey, it’s me!” as well as, “Arrgh!” irritation. I drew fan art, wrote and recorded commentary and reviews. Can these characters, and the comics’ portrayals of vision loss, teach something? How we who wear the patch are perceived? How we survive? Printed booklet (28 pages, stapled or sewn) plus link to full AUDIO narration (15 min) and in-text image description. 2023.

Black line drawing of myself with large eye patch, bandana, and striped shirt patterned with a skull-and-crossbones that's also wearing an eyepatch.
